There is something about bubbles that makes people relax, engage, and enjoy. Join Julia Coney, Wine Enthusiast’s 2020 Social Visionary Award Recipient and sparkling wine aficionado, as she explores the bubbles in this intimate and fun conversation.
In this intimate conversation, Julia will help us discover the differences from the traditional method of champagne to the tank method that is Prosecco and understand how those differences can be great; from how the sparklers are produced, the grapes used, and how they taste.
A devout sparkling wine enthusiast, Julia will demonstrate how they can be the most versatile wines to have with and without food. Made by almost every wine-producing region in the world, sparkling wines are to be appreciated year-round for the pleasure of enjoying with food. We’ll learn how they can pair with various dishes from hearty meals to light appetizers, from aperitif to accompanying a family dinner, because, in the end, bubbles bring the party.

About the Presenter
Julia Coney is a Washington, D.C. and Houston, Texas-based wine writer, wine educator, speaker, and consultant. Her wine writing includes stories on wine, winemakers, and the intersection of race, wine, and language. She holds a WSET Level Two Certification in Wine and Spirits and is currently pursuing her Master Level Champagne Certification with the Wine Scholar Guild and WSET Level Three Certification.
Julia is the recipient of Wine Enthusiast’s 2020 Social Visionary Award Winner for her work in writing and speaking on diversity, equity, and inclusion in the wine industry. Julia founded Black Wine Professionals in 2020, a resource for wine industry employers and gatekeepers, professionals, and the food and beverage community to lift up the multifaceted Black professionals in the world of wine.
